HCDA Meeting 19 May 2011 HCDA Office Dover

President Bob Mueller called the meeting to order at 6:00pm.

Minutes were read. Al Little made a motion to approve seconded by Sandi Zorzi, passed.

Treasurer report was read. Sandi Zorzi made a motion to approve seconded by Al, passed.

Scholarship- Bob will call Brown Mackie College concerning Madison Frank’s lost scholarship check from August 2010 before HCDA issues a replacement one. Madison has submitted her grades to qualify for the second $500.00 scholarship check.

It was the consensus of the group that because of the budget crunch that only 1 Scholarship will be awarded this year. About 10 applications have been received to date.

Community Garage Sale – Al reported that our Sponsor WTUZ would start the ads the 24^th May. This is worth about $3,000.00 to HCDA over the next 3 weeks.  Al also reported that he is constantly updating the HCDA web site. Check it out at www.canaldover.org. Sandi Zorzi will call Dover Buehlers to get an update on their efforts to sell sale spots in their parking lot.

Bob reported that the Tuscarawas Co. Convention & Visitor’s Bureau’s Travel Day held 14 May 2011 on the Courthouse plaza was well attended.

Bob also reported that the Hot Dog cart was at Geib Funeral Home & Crematory to support their Relay for Life Flower sale that sold out with in 2 hours.

Membership chair Mary Fox, through Al, made a pitch to give a 2012 membership with the purchase of a 2011 membership. More discussions will be held.

WTUZ would like to borrow the Hot Dog cart for a station event.  Al will get the date and time of the event.

Dover Car & Motorcycle Show set for the Downtown will be held 5 August 2011. We’ll need lots of help to man the Hot Dog cart and sell 50/50 tickets.

Sandi Zorzi reported that she and Tod Carper are coordinating the Red Carpets for early June. More to come later.
