HCDA MONTHLY MEETING

FEBRUARY 17, 2011

HCDA met at 6:00 on Thursday, February 17, 2011 at the Comfort Inn with the following people attending:  Al Little, Sandy Zorzi, Tod Carper, John Little, Don Hoffman, Sara Little, Bob Mueller, Kathy Thomas, and Joyce Espenschied.

The minutes of last meeting were read and approved by Al Little, seconded by Sandy Zorzi.

The treasurer’s report was read and approved by Tod Carper and seconded by Mary Fox.

Mary Fox reported that she was almost ready to send out the membership letters to prospective members.  She suggested we have a “Friends of the Trails” membership for those who do not want to participate in HCDA activities but want to receive e-mails and information about the trails and opportunities to help with the different projects.

Joyce Espenschied reported that the 2^nd annual City Wide garage sale will be held June 17 and 18.  The committee is working hard on getting the information out to make this another successful event.

Al Little reported that Taste of Tusc will be held on March 11, 2011 from 5:30 to 9:00 at Warther’s museum.  Over 20 restaurants will be participating and they hope to raise between $7,000 and $8,000.

We are still waiting on better weather to hold the Red Carpet event.  We have about 6 places to visit.

Bob Mueller bought the sticker for the hot dog trailer.  Al Little moved to pay Bob Mueller $38.50 to reimburse for the license, seconded by Sandy Zorzi.

On February 26, 2011, Patriot Day will be held at the New Towne Mall.  It is an event for children to make them aware of all the history in Tuscarawas County.  Joyce Espenschied moved that we pay a marketing fee of $20.00 towards this event, seconded by Tod Carper.

Bob Mueller reminded us of the anniversary celebration of the Civil War.

Tod Carper reported that “Rock the Prom” donated several hundred dollars to United Way.

Don Hoffman spoke about the Chamber of Commerce and distributed the yearly publication printed by the Chamber called “Visions of Tuscarawas County”.  He said the Chamber sponsored expo will be August 24, 2011 at the Kent State Performing Arts Center.

The group voted to pay the dues to join the Chamber of Commerce.

Our next meeting will be March 17, 2011 at the Comfort Inn Dover.
