The Historic Canal Dover Association, Inc.
(HCDA,) is in the first phase of a campaign to become a Main Street Community
through the successful Ohio Main Street Program, managed by Downtown Ohio, Inc.
Our mission is to revitalize Dover's central business district while preserving
its historic character by implementing the National Main Street four-point
approach which includes organization, design, economic restructuring and
promotion.
By developing a partnership with city
government, merchants, business owners, professionals, citizens and all those
who carry "Dover Pride" in their hearts, our hope is to make our central
business district a place where people can spend time with family and friends
enjoying shopping, dining and entertainment. Additionally, we want to create an
atmosphere where merchants, businesses and professionals can thrive. HCDA plans
to make Dover a destination that captures the attention of the tens-of-thousands
of tourists that come to our area each year. Dover stands to gain tremendously
from the money generated by increased tourism.
