Thank you for your interest in the Historic Canal Dover Association (aka the “Canal Dover Association“). The Canal Dover Association was founded with the vision to improve the community of Dover as a whole, beginning in the downtown area. Our membership has grown and so have our thoughts about where Dover needs to grow to take advantage of future opportunities.

Our next meeting will be held on Thursday, August 18 at Sunnyside (5494 N Wooster Ave) from noon to approximately 1pm. Our guest speaker will be Dover Mayor Richard Homrighausen.
We participate in a lot of activities in Dover including the Tuscarawas River Canoe & Kayak Race, Canal Dover Festival, Lions Halloween Parade, Dover’s Season of Good Cheer, End of Summer Celebration and the Dover Christmas Parade. We were one of the organizations responsible for building the information kiosks on the square, clearing the canal towpath between Wooster and Tuscarawas Avenues, built a replica of the Canal Dover Toll House on Front Street, and we are involved with forming the hiking and biking trails along the canal towpath. Our future goals include helping with the development of the riverfront park, repainting the ghost signs in the downtown area and rehabbing and creating green space in the downtown area. Accomplishing these Canal Dover Association projects will improve and beautify the City of Dover, enticing businesses and tourism to thrive.
We are a 501c3 organization capable of accepting donations that not only benefit the Canal Dover Association but you by way of a tax deduction. We have many levels of membership. Please click on the Organization tab for more membership information. Without your support, the Canal Dover Association would not be able to continue these projects. With help from dedicated civic-minded individuals like you, Dover will continue to be a vibrant community. We hope you can join the Canal Dover Association and help make Dover a strong community and business district.
